(not so) Frequently Asked Questions

If you can’t find your question below feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to help.

Who Runs This Website?

Hi, I’m Quinn but online I’m known as Erith.

I am a trans non-binary gunpla enthusiast; hoping to share their love for these plastic model kits with new friends around the world.

What does “BUNPURA” mean?

The root language term for this hobby is ガンプラ, or Ganpura. I changed “Gan” -> “Bun” (a pun about my Viera inspired avatar) and here we are.

How often will there be updates?

I fully expect there will be a new showcase at least every-other-week for the remainder of 2023. we did it, goal exceeded!

2024 has been a whirlwind and posts are going to be sporadic, but I was able to revamp the site with its ‘rebake’ look. I hope you enjoy it and the updates this year brings!

Existing showcases will also receive updates once the dust settles from building out the site life. Eventually there will be a curated gallery with my favorites.

Who drew your character art?

The portrait where I’m celebrating gunpla was done by Megu Muu.
The portrait where I’m lounging was done by Nix.

What are the goals for BUNPURA?

This is where I catalog and share information about the model kits I’ve built. While I post my positive/negative thoughts about the kits, this is not a review site. If you think a kit looks cool that’s all that matters. Buy it, build it, and share it!

There are zero plans for monetization or sponsorships.

I have no intentions of streaming builds or a hosting a BUNPURA Discord server.

You should build [_______]

Feel free to throw suggestions my way, I don’t know every kit! If it vibes with me I’ll credit you on the kit’s showcase for bringing it to my attention.

~~~ however ~~~
As of now I only purchase kits that I intend to build & display, and have a considerable supply I am working through.
What tools do you use / What do I need to build a model?
A lot less than you’d think!
I plan to put out a more detailed article eventually, but essentially:
Necessary:
Snippers – These are used for cutting individual pieces of the model out from the sheets you receive in the box. You can buy a pair of “Godhand 125” for ~$15 online.
Hobby Knife / X-Acto Knife – This will be used for removing small bits of plastic left over from where you cut the part using the snippers.
Highly Suggested:
Panel Lining Gundam Markers – These are inexpensive and bring out the detail in your model. If you go to buy your first gunpla kit, buy the appropriate marker or two (I can help!) and you will be so proud of your final results.
Don’t waste your money:
Runner Stands / Part Organizers – You will need to build a couple models to understand your workflow, buying will more than likely not be necessary and the funds can be channeled elsewhere.
